Client Questions  1) When will we receive the voice over? (before or after filming?) 2) How do you wanted the video presented? (formal, informal) 3) What are the hairstyles?  4) How long do you want it to be ideally?   Notes used other recorded videos of haircuts to demonstrate. want their own cuts recorded for Demos live models and head, aimed at lvl2 and 3 barbering. record in silence, edit music and narration over the top, rather than speaking on the camera. Barbering Production Log

Diary Log 21/04/2021 Today I managed to almost complete my AC1 unit for the new project. I studied 2 existing products and described them in detail. I learnt about different lighting types and how the mise en scene can relate to the viewer in different ways. Next time I will try and fully complete all of my AC1 unit 26/04/21 Today I managed to complete my AC1 unit by finishing off my evaluation. Next time I can start my AC2 unit and hopefully get that finished sooner rather than later. I also helped a fellow student with their AC2 recording for their dry run practise video. 05/05/21 Today I managed to almost complete AC2, i just need to complete my pitch and then I can move onto AC3. I managed to do some pre-production work and gather feedback from my peers about my dry run of an instructional video on barbering. 10/05/21 Today I managed to almost finish my pre-production work, all I have to do now is to finish a resource list and get my group list don't as these haven't been...

Existing Products

Existing Products  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5izBPs5K0qo Shot types In this example we see a variety of shot types things such as : Close ups, extreme close ups, mid shots. This is because this is a tutorial video which shows the audience what they guy is doing but also is an appointment so we get a look at what goes on before the cutting takes places and how he tells the guy what he wants and how its done. Then we are taken on the trip on how he cuts the hair and explains what he is doing and why.  Mise en scene The mise en scene is very little, it only has what is needed which helps the viewer to focus on what is important (the haircut) and not to get distracted by anything else in the scene. The use of the clean background helps the viewer see small details that appear when linked with extreme close up shots of the hair. We see the barber wearing an apron which the person receiving the hair cut is also wearing. This is because this is a common thing when you ge...

Interpreting the Brief

The Brief I have been contacted by the Salon professionals dept located at Sunderland college city campus as they would like me to produce a tutorial guide about specific barbering techniques in order to be used as a learning tool for some of their students. To be more specific they would like this made for their level two and three students in order to show and teach them more about the course, as this will be used in this way I will have to think about things such as time, pace and editing techniques. Time Planning the time for the video will be key as it could be the difference between very effective and is not very effective. This is because if the video is too long then the students will get distracted and will no longer pay attention to the video. On the other hand, if the video is fairly short and captures their attention then chances are they will pay more attention to it and learn from it. Therefore, I believe a good time to be from three to five minutes long in order to...

Practise video and Feedback

Image
This is an instructional video I created in order to understand the basics of how to make instructional videos. I recorded this instructional video in a first-person perspective in order to make the viewer feel as if they are the ones making the product, I believe this was effective in order to make them relate more with the video and see how simple that task was to carry out.  This will also make it appear to seem easier as it is set in a homely environment which would make it relate with the viewer as the person watching will probably be at home trying the instructions out. In the video, I tried to stray away from normal codes and conventions in order to make the video more interesting and to make a unique product. I achieved this by taking a more cinematic approach and trying to implement seamless transitions and a variety of camera angles and shots to keep the viewer interested. When recording the video I made sure the scene was well lit so I could keep my ISO as low as ...
