Practise video and Feedback

This is an instructional video I created in order to understand the basics of how to make instructional videos. I recorded this instructional video in a first-person perspective in order to make the viewer feel as if they are the ones making the product, I believe this was effective in order to make them relate more with the video and see how simple that task was to carry out.  This will also make it appear to seem easier as it is set in a homely environment which would make it relate with the viewer as the person watching will probably be at home trying the instructions out. In the video, I tried to stray away from normal codes and conventions in order to make the video more interesting and to make a unique product. I achieved this by taking a more cinematic approach and trying to implement seamless transitions and a variety of camera angles and shots to keep the viewer interested. When recording the video I made sure the scene was well lit so I could keep my ISO as low as possible to retain high video quality. I also used a low aperture number in order to keep the things that are important in focus so the view does not become distracted by anything that is in the back of the scene.

This is another example of an instructional video that is more focused on the barbering side of things. The editing on this video was rather straight forwards just like the filming process. When filming we utilised a green screen background in order to have more creative possibilities during the editing processes. We were able to utilise the house lighting in order to get a nice clear, well-lit background so we can keep our video quality high as we can use the lowest ISO possible. For the aperture setting, we used something between 7-11, this was because we wanted to green screen in the background to be clear so it would be easier to edit out in post-production, also as there was 2 of us in the shot we wanted both of us to be clear in the shot as we were the main thing in the scene.

When editing I utilised the chroma key tool in order to remove the main bulk of the green screen, I then went in and corrected the chroma settings in order to make the whole green screen disappear. From there I sourced an appropriate photo to replace the empty, black background, therefore, bringing the scene to life and fitting the video more appropriately. There were a few videos that needed to be cut in order to remove any errors that were made during the filming of it. I carried this out by using the cutting tool in Adobe premier pro to achieve a clean-cut, I then improved the video by including a transition to cover up where the cut was made to show a smooth transition between one clip to the next which makes the flow of the video a lot better.

Feedback

This is a feedback form I have created in order to ascertain what details I have included that a possible target audience likes and enjoys. I have put this form together and sent it off to a few of my peers in order for them to evaluate my work and let me know what I could possibly improve on if I had to create another video about this subject. Questions such as: what did you like and what didn't you like? All help me when evaluating my work. This is because it shows me what things I did well and what people liked, but it also shows me what things people didn't particularly like which helps me make valid judgements when improving my work.

From the feedback provided I know that people like the use of text on the screen in their instructional videos this is useful information as it shows me how I can improve in the future to make it appeal to more people and therefore get more publicity from the video.

This is a feedback form that has been filled in by a person that I sent it. It has been filled in relatively well and explains each of the questions. I can clearly identify what the person liked about it and what they didn't like, giving me a clear understanding of how I could improve my video if I was to do it again. From the feedback I have attained I have learnt that people like to have more visual things IE text on the screen.
